SAILING ADVENTURE - Enjoy a day of sailing aboard 'Pelican Eyes', the jewel yacht of our resort. You will have the opportunity to explore the pristine Nicaraguan coastline, peek at a myriad of secluded bays, capture glimpses of dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and perhaps catch a mahi-mahi or two - all while you relax, soak up some sun, and enjoy our local fare and refreshing rum punch. CASA TRANQUILA SPA - We offer a full range of spa services and treatment packages in a variety of settings including Tranquilta, surrounding gardens and on our upper deck overlooking beautiful San Juan del Sur. VINYASA YOGA - Enjoy a Relaxing Morning or Evening Yoga session overlooking San Juan del Sur from our wooden Yoga deck. Vinyasa yoga consists of a series of poses which flow together to help strengthen the body, increase flexibility, relieve stress and calm the mind. All Yoga classes are held on the wooden deck located just below the family pool on the upper level property.
SURFING - From beginning surf experiences, women-only surfing, to the classic surfing day, we can make it happen during your visit. The water here is warm, the surf breaks un-crowded with waves to suit all levels. We work with some of the best Surf companies in Latin America to provide a full range of surfing experiences.
CANOPY TOUR - Join us on a wild ride to the top of the adjoining mountain. Once you reach the top, you strap on your harness, put on a helmet and experience the adrenaline rush as you make your way down the mountain and over the forest, passing over a 70m wide canon. Be sure to look for howler monkeys as you sail though the air!
DEEP SEA FISHING - Do you have a dream about catching the big one? Enjoy a half day of fishing of the shores of one of Nicaragua's oldest fishing villages. For the adventurist, sign up for a full day fishing expedition! Catch a big roaster fish, sierra mackerel, yellow fin tuna, snapper and many others with our experienced Captain who has been fishing these waters for years and knows where the fish are hiding.
WATER AEROBICS - Get a refreshing start on your day by joining the water aerobics class at our family pool (located on our upper property below the lap pool). This is a wonderful way to have a low impact work out while making use of the water to help you exercise and stay cool. The water aerobics class is free of charge and a great way to meet other guests.
PANGA TOURS - "Panga" is the local term for a small outboard motor boat. The Pangas are canopy covered, providing some sun protection, and are available for hire to explore the phenomenal coastline and pristine beaches, stopping along the way for a swim, a picnic, or for a bit of low key fishing.
DINING AND ENTERTAINMENT - Following the daily spectacle of sunset (remarkable and breathtaking in every way), San Juan has a few additional diversions. Join us at La Cascada Bar and Restaurant for Happy Hour on Wednesdays for our drink and appetizer specials. Adventure into town for a variety of terrific restaurants, shake it up at our local discos or join in with our local karaoke groupies.
HIKING AND HORSEBACK RIDING - The mountains surrounding our bay are great for hiking. We can point you to the Cross (La Cruz), to the lighthouse (El Faro) or to several neighboring beaches. We can also coordinate guided hikes for you. You can also experience the terrain and beauty surrounding San Juan del Sur on guided horseback tours. Perfect for both beginners and experienced riders.
SPANISH CLASSES - Enhance your vacation - make it a true cultural experience! There are many Spanish language schools in town that offer expert instruction with courses specifically designed for travelers and explorers. They also offer cultural activities, homestays and much more!
SEA TURTLES - Local wildlife refuge, Playa La Flor, is one of the world's most important nesting sites for the Olive Ridley sea turtle, and about a 40 minute drive to the south. From July to December, up to 8,000 female sea turtles crawl ashore at La Flor and lay their eggs in the amazing phenomenon known as the arribada ("the arrival"). It is one of just a handful of beaches in the world that witness such a spectacle.
SHOPPING - A. Jean Brugger Foundation offers some of the best shoping at Galeria del Sur located just a few blocks from the Hotel. Frequently offering special shows highlighting local artists, they also specialize in local handicrafts including handwoven baskets, homemade cards, and jewelry. We can also coordinate trips to Masaya, Catarina or San Juan del Oriente, where you'll encounter various artisan markets and pottery shops.
REGIONAL EXCURSIONS - The areas surrounding San Juan del Sur are full of activities to enjoy while visiting Nicaragua; from leisurely tours to the colonial town of Granada, visits to artisan workshops at the Pueblos Blancos, to shopping in Masaya, and more active opportunities including volcano hikes, expeditions to Ometepe Island and canopy tours. We would be delighted to organize day, overnight and extended trips for you to enjoy.
